During the eResearch Australasia Conference 2011, the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education  announced the James Tizard Memorial Prize. The $5000 prize was aimed at recognising innovative research advanced through the use of eResearch infrastructure, or information and communication technology (ICT) based infrastructure to support research.

The applications received have been judged by a panel comprising members of the Australian eResearch Infrastructure Council (AeRIC) and the prize will be formally awarded during the eResearch Australasia Conference 2012.
