SUMMARY:Multi-modal and Collaborative High-End Visualisation System for Scalable Deployment
DESCRIPTION:A/Prof. Tomasz Bednarz1, Mr Luc Betbeder-Matibet1\n1UNSW & CSIRO, Sydney, Australia\nThis talk introduces the High-End Visualisation System (HEVS). HEVS is a production-grade software toolkit for shared multi-model visualisation systems which has been developed by the Expanded Perception and Interaction Centre at UNSW. HEVS can be used to run content on a wider range of platforms with fewer compatibility issues and dependencies than current commercial software packages. Using the HEVS framework content can be transferred between large single and multi-screen single node systems, immersive cluster-driven systems (CAVE-like platforms), hemispherical domes, projected cylindrical displays and personal HMDs (from VRR to AR). Multiple platforms can also be connected to create multi-user collaborative experiences across remotely located labs. This framework provides a unifying approach to visual analytics development and enables organisations to provide visualisation support (or visualisation as a service) across multiple modalities. In this talk we aim to a) provide an introduction to HEVS b) demonstrate how HEVS has been used and c) provide open access to the HEVS framework for the eResearch community.\n\nBiography:\nTomasz is a Director and Head of Visualisation at the Expanded Perception & Interaction Centre (EPICentre), A/Professor at the UNSW Art & Design and UNSW Computer Science and Engineering. He is also Research Team Leader at CSIRO’s Data61 (leading Visual/Hybrid Analytics Team, in Software & Computational Systems research program). He also leads Simulation and Modelling Cross-Cutting Capability for CSIRO’s Future Science and Technology.\n \nLuc is  a Director, Research Technology Services at University of New South Wales, and Director Infrastructure at EPICentre based in Paddington, New South Wales.\n
