SUMMARY:Building rich data discovery interfaces from RO-Crate collections with Oni
DESCRIPTION:Mr Michael Lynch1\n1University Of Technology Sydney\nOni is a platform providing a search and discovery layer for research data collections, using open metadata and repository standards and open source search engine technologies.\nThis presentation demonstrates how datasets described with RO-Crate (Research Object Crate) metadata, an open JSON standard for describing research data objects, can be indexed and made discoverable.\nThe indexer can be configured to provide search results which span different classes of data object, and rich contextual metadata can be stored in the index, allowing search results to show related items and spatial and temporal coordinates.\nExamples of data collections from humanities and sciences show that Oni can provide a flexible discovery layer without the overhead of discipline-specific collection platforms.\n\nBiography:\nMichael Lynch is a research data management specialist in the Research IT team at UTS, providing tools and support for FAIR research data and machine- and human-readable metadata. His other interests include data visualisation, natural language programming and functional programming languages.\nhttps://orcid.org/0000-0001-5152-5307\n
