DESCRIPTION:Mr Melroy Almeida1, Ms  Siobhann McCafferty2, Dr  Amir Aryani3, Mr  Peter Vats4\n1Australian Access Federation, Brisbane, Australia , 2Australian Research Data Commons, Brisbane, Australia , 3Swinburne University of Technology , Melbourne, Australia , 4ResearchGraph Foundation , Melbourne , Australia\nBACKGROUND\nOrganisations play multiple roles in any research database as either, funders or affiliations of researchers or research facilities etc.  The research community, including research organisations and National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) funded projects are starting to recognise the benefit in being able to properly describe the relationship between themselves and researchers associated with them.  This can be done using organisation IDs (org ids) which are unique and persistent identifiers for organisations within the research community. Org IDs remain persistent even if the organisation they represent changes over time. The ability to de-duplicate and uniquely identify organisations irrespective of their name allows for the tracking of provenance and verifying affiliation assertion. There are few prominent providers of persistent identifiers for organisations viz ISNI, Ringgold, GRID and ROR.\nJoin this BoF as we look at Org IDs and explore the various use-cases for Org IDs within the Australian and New-Zealand research and scholarly infrastructure to enable more efficient discovery and tracking of research outputs across organisations.\nAUDIENCE\nThis BoF will be of interest to organisations and research facilities who would like to track and manage research funded and facilitated by themselves. Attendees should be prepared to participate in an open discussion on organisation identifiers and various use-cases related to it.\nOUTCOMES\nThe attendee will leave the BoF session with an understanding of opportunities Org IDs can offer organisations. We expect that attendees will explore in greater depth the ideas raised during the session as they apply it to their organisation.\n\nBiography:\nMELROY ALMEIDA:\nMelroy is a Technical Systems Analyst with the Australian Access Federation and is a big fan of Persistent Identifiers.
