SUMMARY:Towards an Institution-Wide Research Data Management Framework
DESCRIPTION:Mrs Laura Armstrong1, Mr  Brian Flaherty2\n1University Of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, 2National eScience Infrastructure, Auckland, New Zealand\nResearch Data Management (RDM) is increasingly recognised as a critical knowledge gap for researchers as international and domestic funders, publishers, and ethics committees introduce more stringent requirements regarding Data Management Plans and the collection, storage and sharing of research data.\nThe University of Auckland is responding to the evolving research landscape with a strategic initiative to develop an integrated Research Data Management framework that is consistent with international standards, including FAIR data principles to improve data sharing whilst also adding in the principles of Māori Data Sovereignty. The project is co-sponsored by our Pro Vice-Chancellor (Māori) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and includes an Advisory Panel.\nMembers of the project team will provide details of their work to:\n– engage researchers, including socialising FAIR, CARE and Māori Data Sovereignty principles, through a roadshow, online survey, and interviews\n– identify challenges and opportunities presented by research data across the various different faculties of the university\n– develop and use a model to establish current and desired maturity across 6 RDM dimensions, including Māori Data Sovereignty, and\n– align with funders, code of conduct policies and ethics requirements.\nThis will be of interest to those interested in developing services and increasing maturity in the management of research data.\n\nBiography:\nLaura Armstrong is a Senior eResearch Engagement Specialist at the Centre for eResearch, University of Auckland working to engage researchers in eresearch, and deliver research data management services and researcher enablement projects. https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2370-3924\nBrian Flaherty is Product Manager for Data Services at NeSI, including repository development, data transfer and storage.
