DESCRIPTION:Dr Sara King1\n1AARNet\nAs the network provider for Australia’s universities and research institutions, AARNet’s aim is to support all researchers to maximise their use of the available technologies and the supporting network capabilities.\nOur training is focused on demonstrating the services we provide, such as CloudStor and SWAN, understanding networks and data movement and has concentrated on in-person workshops. We see this as a kind of ‘infrastructure literacy’, a term that encompasses the practical knowledge needed to transfer, store and manage research data (of any size) in complex scenarios throughout the research and data lifecycle.\nWith a detailed understanding of the role of the national research and education network (NREN) and the ability to use data access and movement services available via the NREN, our users are empowered to harness the full potential of this purpose-built research network.\nRecently, AARNet has expanded its from face-to-face workshops training to a multi-modal suite of options designed to meet current needs and expectations. In addition to more traditional in-person training sessions the eResearch team is building on the following:\nWebinars and researcher demos\nKnowledge Base improvement\nYouTube ‘How-to’ instructional videos\nLive and recorded demonstrations\nOnline training\nSelf-guided tutorials\nHacky Hour\nThis paper will describe this approach to skill-building across the academic community and how AARNet aims to continue to provide a greater flexibility of choice in how, where and when people can engage with us.\n\nBiography:\nhttps://orcid.org/0000-0003-3199-5592\nDr Sara King is the Training and Engagement Lead for AARNet. She is focused on outreach within the research sector, developing communities of interest around training, outreach and skills development in eResearch.
