Abstract:

The sector is continuing to expand its digital research infrastructures (DRI) footprint to meet sector needs and collaboration for the next generation of research challenges. It is paramount that for secure operation of this infrastructure, the cyber-security posture must be uplifted and continued to be improved to meet the cyber threats being experienced across the sector and beyond. Ensuring the integrity of research outcomes which allows Australia to deliver world-leading results and innovation are critical to our well-being and economy, we must protect it.

As a community we need to act. First part is acknowledging the issue and engaging on a proactive conversation where co-solutions can be sort and adopted to support each – the power of the crowd will make us strong against threats.

Expanding on the eResearch 2024 Birds of a Feather session, this session will engage an expert panel from federal government – Australian Signals Directive (ASD,) Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) and trusted sovereign research infrastructure providers from the sector to discuss the risks and challenges for the sector along with explore controls that should be considered by DRI providers.
