Abstract:

How to Build an Exabyte Archive

A Real-World Case Study from (customer name to be revealed at the conference!). Plus an Introduction and demo of the New Open Source NGNFS AI Filesystem.

In this presentation, Bruce Gilpin from Versity will share technical insights into the design and deployment of the largest AI archival system built for open research, showcasing a real-world example, design considerations, and emerging architectural innovations. As the volume of scientific and research data continues to expand at an extraordinary rate, the need for scalable, cost-effective, and reliable storage architectures has become critical.

This talk will explore the technical requirements and design criteria that underpin the development of the largest of these next-generation systems.

Attendees will also be introduced to NGNFS, a the first new open-source AI filesystem designed specifically for large-scale AI compute and archival environments.

The discussion will cover the design and architectural elements of this NVMe centric parallel filesystem. Key themes include the importance of open-source technologies for interoperability and sustainability, as well as strategies to achieve high scalability and efficiency in data-intensive research environments. This presentation will provide researchers, IT architects, and data managers with valuable perspectives on new technologies.
