Using Figshare and Symplectic Elements to create a more efficient and FAIR workflow

There is a strong need to simplify, connect, and optimise the way research data is managed within the research ecosystem of an organisation or university through better interoperability between systems.
In this presentation, we’ll look at how the integration between Figshare, a repository platform for research outputs, and Symplectic Elements, a Current Research Information System (CRIS), enabled institutions in Australasia to more efficiently store, manage, and assess their research outputs and increase their Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability (FAIR).
Featuring presentations from La Trobe University and Central Queensland University, we’ll explore the crosswalks developed to ensure data and metadata are transferred between systems, the workflows used to allow users and administrators to deposit research outputs, and the organisation and documentation of outputs to ensure they’re as findable and discoverable as possible. We’ll also discuss our future plans for furthering this integration to make it even more efficient and beneficial.
