Abstract

Effective research data management plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and usability of research data. In this presentation, I delve into the successful implementation of one of the largest and most innovative research data management applications and underscore the significance of integrating it with other applications to enhance overall efficiency.

The UQ Research Data Manager (UQRDM) has revolutionized the way research data is organized, stored, and shared. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, best practices and working closely with researchers we have developed a comprehensive solution that empowers researchers to streamline their data management processes and focus on their core work.

Central to the presentation is the role of integration with other research management applications. Whilst developing UQRDM, we recognized the inherent complexity of research workflows, and the diverse set of tools researchers utilize daily. Integrations offer a pathway to reduce redundancy and improve data quality throughout the research lifecycle.

During this talk, I will highlight the benefits of integrating our research data management application, from research management tools such as our systems for grants, ethics, and digital research notebooks, to storage interfaces and the expansive list of authentication options.

By attending this session, researchers, data managers, and technology enthusiasts will gain valuable insights into the importance of integrating research data management applications with other tools. I hope that our solution will inspire attendees to harness the potential of integrations to optimize their workflows, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and in doing so produce FAIR, reusable data that underpins research outputs.
