Abstract

The Nectar Research Cloud has been providing Australian researchers with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) services since it launched in 2011.

Through our user surveys and consultations, we identified that many users don’t want the overhead of managing their own cloud servers or necessarily need massive amounts of computing power. In such many cases, their needs could be met by managed services and common tools.

Last year, ARDC launched the Nectar Interactive Analytics project to deliver a Virtual Desktop and a Jupyter Notebook service for these users.

This presentation will introduce these new services, their benefits, and how they compliment ARDC’s Nectar Research Cloud.
