eResearch Life Cycle: The Deakin Work Readiness Project

“We wish for our participants to receive an individualised summary report via email after they have completed their Work Readiness Assessment”. This request, which stemmed from the Deakin Graduate Work Readiness Project, has resulted in the ongoing collaboration between the School of Psychology and Deakin eResearch (DUeR).
Deakin University is at the forefront of developing initiatives to help students secure graduate employment. Apart from professional network building, the University has integrated work-readiness and career development into the standard curriculum.
Deakin’s Graduate Employability area (DeakinTALENT and the Freelance HUB) are piloting the use of the Work Readiness Scale (WRS) in career development initiatives with Deakin students. The School of Psychology is working to implement the WRS as one of the tools used in the assessment, which forms the basis of the career development curriculum.
Part of this program involves students completing the Work Readiness Assessment on Qualtrics with identity authentication, and based on their work-readiness profile, receive an individualised summary report that is used for further learning, consultation and development. As outlined in our opening statement, the research team and DUeR partnered to orchestrate and automate this entire workflow from data capture and analysis to report generation and delivery.
In this presentation, we will describe the workflow at both the User and Operational levels. We’ll close by sharing the future of our work-readiness project, and how eResearch is beyond traditional IT support services; but instead, a research partner whose contribution can permeate through all stages of the research life cycle.
