Abstract:

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) enables highly secure key exchange in the face of advancing quantum computing. This work presents a proof-of-concept deployment evaluating feasibility, performance, and integration with existing networks. It examines “metro scale” fibre use, interoperability with conventional encryption, and key metrics such as error rates, key generation, and resilience, offering insights into QKD’s role in future secure communication systems.
