Abstract:
On April 10, 2024, the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and partners launched the Decadal Plan for Social Science Research Infrastructure 2024-33. The Plan, co-written and undersigned by an Expert Working Group comprising 90 research infrastructure experts from across Australia, unites the highly diverse group of social science disciplines around three shared strategic infrastructure goals for the next decade.
The aim of the Plan is to mobilise the social sciences research infrastructure sector–encompassing both people and existing and emerging research capabilities– to take advantage of emerging opportunities and ensure we achieve more collectively over the next decade than we could individually.
In this session, the project lead will describe the key elements underpinning the Plan, explain their significance and discuss how this strategic document can be leveraged by leaders of current and emerging infrastructures to advance their goals. She will also share the Academy's current plans for implementation and seek input from the audience on how to optimise progress during these initial critical years. This session is of interest to social science eResearchers and anyone involved in the planning, operation and use of social science research infrastructure.
