Abstract:
As artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly evolves, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing is essential. This abstract outlines methodologies implemented by eResearch Services at Griffith University (GU) to enhance institutional AI research capabilities and collaboration.
Background: Recognising potentials for AI to revolutionise research, eResearch Services took action to support AI research and integration aligning with GU digital strategy. Our primary aim was to create an environment conducive to sharing knowledge, inspiring novel AI applications, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Method: Our method involved several key initiatives:
1. eResearch AI Symposium: A platform for researchers to present their AI projects, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration.
2. University-wide AI Expertise Network: Connecting AI experts across GU. Integrating researchers into a supportive AI Community of Practice.
3. AI Workshops: Applying AI technologies to advance research projects.
4. Higher Degree Researcher Skills Week: Future skills training in AI system development, for example, Natural Language Processing and explainable AI.
5. Career Development: Assisting PhD students with navigating AI career opportunities.
6. Continuous Support and Industrial Engagement: Ongoing efforts to support researcher engagement with industry partners.
Results: These initiatives show early evidence of increased collaboration, innovative AI use cases, and a strengthened AI research network. Workshops and symposiums fostered partnerships, while career support helped PhD graduates transition into the AI job market.
Conclusion: The methodology continuous to increase researchers’ trust toward eResearch Services and its partners, enhancing AI research and collaboration. Continuous efforts and industrial engagements are set to further drive AI innovations and applications, supporting emerging AI professionals.
