Her work focuses on building capability in data management planning, fostering FAIR and reproducible research practices.
Abstract:
With an aging infrastructure and increasing researcher needs for collaboration and access to storage, UniSC is advancing its research data management capabilities through the introduction of cloud storage as a secure and scalable solution for research data. A critical early step in this transition is the ethics approvals to ensure that the storage of sensitive research data in the cloud meets institutional and regulatory requirements. Close collaboration between Library Services, Information Technology (IT) teams, and the Office of Research is central to establishing appropriate infrastructure, security protocols, and effective communication to support this initiative.
As part of the implementation of cloud storage, the Research Data Working Group is contributing to this effort by providing clear and ongoing feedback on researcher infrastructure needs. Guidance is being developed to outline the appropriate use of cloud storage, data security expectations, and the management of sensitive data. This engagement is helping to build trust and support informed adoption across the UniSC research community.
Alongside cloud implementation, UniSC is leveraging metadata collected through Data Management Plans and data storage in the cloud storage platform. New workflows are currently being developed to support long-term preservation and compliance; this work is contributing to the gradual establishment of a structured and efficient archival process.
UniSC is reviewing its research data management platform and is exploring options for a new integrated platform. This work aims to enhance the governance and lifecycle management of research data. Together, these initiatives represent an ongoing and evolving effort to support secure, compliant, and sustainable research data management.
