Grab your towel as we embark on a journey into the galaxy of persistent identifiers (PIDs). Life lessons tell us:
- Always uniquely identify research entities – to understand their contribution.
- Improbable does not mean impossible! It is important to understand the relationship between these entities. The Scholix initiative established an interoperability framework to link and exchange information about scholarly literature and research data.
- There are few things better than a hot cup of tea. Unless talking about the relationship information we get from PIDs, a connected ecosystem of linked research entities:
Join us to explore how key PIDs help track impact of investment in research infrastructure. Discover how you can maximise your return on investment in equipment by tracking the impact of the research in which it is used.
Audience
This BoF will be of interest to intrePID hitchhiker’s involved with persistent identifiers at their organisations.
Session structure
42 is the answer, so we’ll start with a brief introduction and presentation. However, it is the questions not the answers that truly matter so the remainder of the session will be open discussion. Come along prepared to exchange knowledge and contribute to discussions about using PIDs to track impact of investment in research resources.
Outcomes
Leave with a fresh perspective on the opportunities PIDs can offer organisations when tracking impact. We envisage you will be prompted to explore in greater depth some of the ideas raised and the opportunity to strengthen connections with the broader PID community.
