Monash e-Research Centre Science Director Wins Prestigious US Award

Professor David Abramson of the Faculty of IT, Monash University, has received a 2010 ‘CENIC Innovations in Networking’ award for his project ‘Enhancing Student Exchange Experiences with High Definition Video Conference’. The award, in the category of ‘High Performance Research Applications’, will be presented at the CENIC Annual Conference awards luncheon on the 9th of March in Monterey, California, US.

The MURPA and PRIME undergraduate student exchange programs, coordinated by research labs at Monash University and the University of California, San Diego, were strengthened by a series of innovative High Definition Video linked seminars between both institutions. Arranged by the Faculty of IT and the Monash e-Research Centre, the HDV seminars allowed students, and also their mentors, the opportunity to present and discuss work during the nine week internships.
