Biography:
Stephen has worked in the University's central IT department since 2016, where he supports the University's centrally-managed digital research services and helps with digital research projects. He completed his PhD in computational chemistry at the University of Sydney, where he was a user of both University-managed and national HPC systems.
Abstract:
Globus is a managed data transfer service that helps researchers manage large data transfers between Globus-connected storage platforms. This talk will highlight our deployment of Globus endpoints on the University's research data storage service (RDS).
RDS is used by thousands of researchers across the University, so we configured Globus endpoints in a way that caters to as many researchers as possible, without compromising the security and privacy of RDS. Our initial deployment of Globus took a conservative approach that we see as a first, careful step to rolling out Globus, that focussed on self-service management of Globus connections to storage, security, and privacy. We will share our experience and learnings from this initial deployment, and our plans to improve our offering to make it more flexible and useful for our research community.
